Aging and immunoglobulin isotype patterns in oral tolerance BJMBR

In the present review we address oral tolerance as an important biological phenomenon and discuss how it is affected by aging. Other factors such as frequency of feeding and previous digestion of the antigen also seem to influence the establishment of oral tolerance. We also analyze immunoglobulin isotypes of specific antibodies formed by tolerant and immunized animals of different ages submitted to different conditions of oral antigen administration. Isotypic patterns were studied as a parameter for assessing the pathways of B and T cell interactions leading to antibody production

Effects of Different Dietary Rosmarinus Officinalis Powder and Vitamin E Levels on the Performance and Gut Gross Morphometry of Broiler Chickens Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.

ABSTRACT The main objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of the dietary addition of different levels of rosemary powder (RP) and vitamin E (VitE) on broiler performance and gut gross morphometry. A total of 270 one-day-old Ross 308 male chicks were randomly assigned to nine dietary treatments with three replicates of10 birds each. Treatments consisted of diets were supplemented with 0, 0.5 or 1.0% RP and 0, 100 or 200 mg/kg VitE (alpha-tocopherol acetate). Feed intake and weight gain were recorded weekly. On day 42, one bird per replicate was euthanized after blood sampling. Gastrointestinal tract segments were measured and/or weighed. Means were compared by least significant difference. Abstract The gut is the main organ that mediates the contact between antigens with our organism, controlling the immune response against environmental factors, such as microbiota and food. Innate lymphoid cells participate in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) maturation during the prenatal and early postnatal periods. After birth, breast milk provides the essential elements for the continuity of development of this tissue, leading to structural changes and healthy microbiota installation. The microbiota participates in the organogenesis of the GALT, as in the formation of intestinal villi, stimulating the proliferation of stem cells and maintaining the integrity of epithelial barrier. ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to isolate, identify, preserve and determine the quantitative level of the Lactobacillus strains from the gut content of 45-day-old chickens broilers; to test the viability of these strains preserved at 4 ºC and room temperature (20 ± 2 ºC). Lactobacillus strains were isolated, phenotypically identified and preserved from the gut content of 17 chickens broilers. Identification was performed by morphological, cultural and biochemical characters examination, using apiwebTM and ABIS online software. The lung and gut morphometry in both natural and experimental Peste de petit ruminant (PPR) virus which are scanty in literature hence the need for this study. The goats that were submitted for necropsy in the Department of Veterinary Pathology University of Ibadan between 2009 and 2010 and the gross pathological diagnosis were PPR were enrolled in this study. The degree of pneumonia as a percentage of the total lung volume was estimated using standard methods. The gut morphometry of goats experimentally infected with PPR virus was also used.
